Story
Ananias
and Sapphira
After Jesus’
ascension to heaven disciples were gathered together in one place
and as Jesus promised them they were filled with Holy Spirit. They
started preaching the Gospel and many believed and turned to Jesus.
The multitudes of those who believed were of one heart and one soul.
No one claimed any of the things kept for common use to be their own,
but they had all things in common. Apostles preached the Gospel with
might and great power. And great grace was upon them and they did
not lack anything in their lives. All the believers shared the money
obtained by the disposal of their property and houses equally among
them.
They sold their
property and houses and brought the money and put it at the feet of
the apostles and it was distributed to each as anyone had need.
There was a man named Ananias and his wife Sapphira. They both sold
their property. They kept back a part of the proceeds, and brought
a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said,
"Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy
Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While
it remanined was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not
in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart?
You have not lied to men but to God. As soon as Peter said those words,
Ananias fell down and died. When people heard these things, a great
fear came on them. And young men wrapped him up and took him out and
buried him.
Three hours later his wife came in and she did not know what had happened
to her husband.Peter asked her, "Tell me whether you sold the
land for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much." Then
Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to
test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried
your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out." Then
immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the
young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried
her by her husband. So great fear came upon all the church and upon
all who heard these things.
And through the hands of Apostles many signs and wonders were done
among the people and multitudes believed in the word of God and accepted
Jesus.
Dear little friends, it may seem that speaking lie is small thing,
but be very careful when you do that. God does not want us to live
in sin but He wants us to repent from our sin and turn to Him and
live a holy life. If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Lord
and Savior please pray this prayer:
Dear Jesus, please forgive and forget all the lies, mistakes and sin
I have committed. I invite you in my heart as my Lord and Savior.
Please come into my life and bless me. From now on I will walk in
your holy ways. I pray this prayer in Jesus name, amen.
