Scientific Facts : Amazing Bats
This Week's Riddle #51
Answer of Riddle #50 and Winner

Scientific Facts
Amazing Bats

Bats are very small creatures of the family of mammal, but this tiny creature has a very sophisticated and powerful sonar system in-built in their system. Invention of radar and sonar system through which planes are being guided to its destination is based on bat's sonar system. Bats send out intense and high-pitched sound waves using a specialized organ in their throat. This sound is beyond the reach of human hearing. When the sound hits an object, its echo comes back. The bat can identify an object by the sound of the echo. They can even tell the size, shape and texture of a tiny insect from its echo. Bat uses these types of sound to move around in the dark and to find food. This amazing system could detect accurately the movement, distance and speed of insects. The method for doing such tasks is called echolocation.

In 1793, Lazzaro Spallanzani of Italy did some experiments on bat's movement. He blindfolded it and made him fly and he was surprised seeing that without his eyes he could fly accurately to the right direction. But when he shut its mouth up or when bat could not hear the voice, it could not locate the right direction and could not fly but it fell down. In 1930 Donald Griffin discovered that bats produce ultrasonic sounds. Ultrasonic sounds are those sounds of higher frequency that humans cannot hear.

If you have ever seen the radar system that guides plane to its destination, it is a huge instrument with tones of weight in comparison to this tiny creature. And not even that much sophisticated compared to bat's sonar system. Bat can distinguish objects that are apart at such a small space of about the width of a pen line on paper width.

What an incredible creature they are. And how marvelously God had created them. Do you know how God created these complex creatures? Just by speaking. The Bible says in Genesis 1:20, Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens."

God just spoke and these complex creatures showed up in this planet earth, but scientists who do so much research and spend so much time to invent new things are unable to even copy exactly what God has created.

The same almighty God wants to become our friend and to perform marvelous things in our lives. My dear little friend, do you want to become friends of God? Did you ever meet your creator? If not invite Him in your life today by praying this simple prayer:

Lord Jesus, I want to be your friend. Please forgive and forget all my sins and give me a new life. Make me your friend today. I invite you in my life as my Lord and Savior. Please come into my life and change me. Thank you Jesus for becoming my friend. I pray this prayer in Jesus' name, Amen.
