This Week's Riddle #53
Answer of Riddle #52 and Winner

Bible Story
Ruth III

Then Naomi thought of securing a husband for Ruth and so she directed her to Boaz. Now Ruth went to Boaz and said, "Take your maidservant under your wing, for you are a close relative." Boaz assured her to do everything to help her. And further he said, "It is true that I am a close relative; however, there is a relative closer than I. If he will perform the duty of a close relative for you; good; let him do it. But if he does not want to perform the duty for you, then I will perform the duty for you, as the LORD lives! Then he provided her with barley filled in her shawl and sent her home. Ruth returned to the city and told everything that happened to her mother-in-law. She also showed the barley given to her by Boaz saying, "Do not go empty-handed to your mother-in-law.'" Naomi told her to wait and see what happens in that matter.

The next day morning Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there then the other close relative also came there. So Boaz said, "Come aside, friend, sit down here." So he came aside and sat down. And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, "Sit down here." So they sat down. Then Boaz said to the close relative, "Naomi sold the piece of land which belongs to our brother Elimelech. If you want to buy it back, you should do it because you are the close relative who is authorized to redeem this land." So the close relative told him that he wanted to buy that land. And Boaz told him, "if you want to buy the land, you also need to marry Ruth according to the custom of Israel."
When the other relative heard that, he backed up and said, "I do not want to do that, so you can go ahead and buy the land and marry Ruth.

And to confirm this the close relative of Naomi took off his sandal and gave it to Boaz And Boaz said to the elders and all the people, "You are witnesses this day that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, from the hand of Naomi. Moreover, I take Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, as my wife. And all the people who were at the gate, and the elders, said, "We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman who is coming to your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem." So they blessed Boaz.

Boaz and Ruth got married and had a son named Obed who became the grandfather of David. Obed's birth brought joy to Naomi and Ruth's life. They praised God for the blessings God gave to them. There is a God who is the restorer of our lives.
