Ducky Duck's trip to Snow Mountain
Ducky duck was excited, as his family was getting
ready to go to his aunt's house during his winter vacation. She
was living in a mountainous country where in the winter season snow
showers occur... When he and his family reached there, they were
stunned, seeing the breathtaking beauty of nature. The whole area
was covered with shiny white crystals of snow flakes. Green pine
trees were covered with snow giving the appearance as of icing on
cake. The attraction of breathtaking beauty was all over the place.
It was very nice for him to meet his aunt after a long time. After
having conversation with aunt and family they retired for taking
rest as they were tired after a very long and tiresome journey.
On the next day aunt and momma duck went for shopping. Before going,
momma duck instructed Ducky duck not go out or to get into any kind
of mischief. Ducky duck nodded his head in assent, but he was longing
to go out and play in snow. But because his mother told him not
to go outside, he sat beside the window and just watched the falling
snow.
"Hi Ducky, how are you?" Hearing his cousin Ravi's voice,
he looked back. Ravi had just arrived from school. "I am fine,
how are you," said Ducky duck. "I am fine too," Ravi
replied and said, "I am going outside to play with my friends.
will you join me?" "Yes, I will," Ducky replied with
enthusiasm, but his heart sank when he remembered the instruction
of his mother, "don't go outside, stay in home." But he
suppressed those thoughts and went with Ravi to play outside. It
was really fun time. They played with snowballs throwing at each
other. Ravi chuckled with joy and shouted, look at Ducky duck, snow
is sitting on his head. And all of Ravi's friends laughed. At another
time snow sat on the nose of Ravi and no one could hold their laugh.
Momma duck came back from shopping and saw that Ducky duck was not
at home. Aunt said, "he might have gone with Ravi and he will
be back soon." A few moments later Ravi and Ducky duck came
back home. But ducky was sneezing because he played too long in
snow. Next day he got severe cold and fever and could not go out
for more than one week. Momma duck said, "didn't I tell you,
don't go outside and don't play in snow? If you had listened to
me, today you would have not seen this day." Ducky duck regretted
for his disobedience and promised his mother to be obedient in future.
In the same way, when we disobey God, we always fall in trouble.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God and it became nightmare for them. They
lost everything. But Jesus came to restore blessings and goodwill
for us. We can receive His blessings by accepting Him in our lives.
Saul who became Paul
After the ascension of Jesus,
when His disciples were gathered together and were praying with
one accord, Holy Spirit came and filled them. They got power to
preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
At that time a great persecution arose against the church that was
at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions
of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. And a man named Saul
made havoc in the church, entering every house, and dragging out
men and women, committing them to prison. Then Saul, who was filled
with the desires of threats and murder against the disciples of
the Lord, went to the high priest and asked for letters from him
to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were
off the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to
Jerusalem.
As he journeyed, he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone
around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a
voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
Saul asked, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I
am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against
the goads."
So Saul, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You
want me to do?" Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and
go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." And
the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice
but seeing no one. Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his
eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and
brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight,
and he neither ate nor drank.
Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and
to him the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias." And he said,
"Here I am, Lord." Lord said to him, "Arise and go
to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas
for one called Saul of Tarsus, for he is praying. And in a vision
he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on
him, so that he might receive his sight."
Then Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about
this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.
"And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all
who call on Your name." But the Lord said to him, "Go,
for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles,
kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many
things he must suffer for My name's sake."
And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands
on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared
to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive
your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." Immediately
there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received
his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had
received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with
the disciples at Damascus.
Saul immediately started preaching about Jesus Christ that He is
the Son of God. Later Saul changed his name to Paul. This is the
same person whom God used mightily to shook the world.
Is
Bible Infallible? 7
By Vinod Isaac
So far we explored three areas
of Genesis account.
1.) Eye Witness account and
2.) Material evidence
3.) Purpose and Attachment. In all of these so far we see that the
evidence is overwhelming. Today we are going to dig a little more
deeper and look into the area of the "Existance of Evil".
Till 9-11 the day of World Trade Center tragedy you seldom hear the
word "evil" mentioned in USA. Most message boards I visited
till that time were telling that there is nothing evil that we should
have tolerance and that good and evil are relative. So there is no
absolute. But the tragedy of 9-11 changed every thing, we heard the
word evil again and again. For example "terrorists are evil people",
"Axis of evil - Iran, Iraq and North Korea", " Saddam
Hussain is evil. He killed his own people using deadly gases."
and so on.
How did people measure "evil" in these incidents? Answer
is simple. People died because of some one's action. Did this evil
exist in Genesis?
Gen 2:16-17, "And the LORD God commanded
the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely
eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not
eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."
Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you
do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but
you should rule over it."
God made it very clear in Genesis 2:16-17 and 4:7 that sin brings
death. In other words brings evil. When Genesis 2:17 is talking about
death it is talking about two kinds of death 1. Spiritual Death 2.
Physical Death. Because of Spiritual Death, Adam and Eve realized
that they had done something terribly wrong and they hid themselves.
Because of sin they were separated or alienated from God. That is
spiritual death. Paul talks about this Spiritual death in Romans 5:12-14.
Rom 5:12-14, "Therefore, just as
through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and
thus death spread to all men, because all sinned; (For until the law
sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who
had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam,
who is a type of Him who was to come."
Then in Genesis 5:5 we see the physical death. Adam died after he
lived 930 years. Wow that's long years. But had he not sinned he would
have lived forever with his physical body.
Gen 5:5, "So all the days that Adam
lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died."
The root cause of evil is sin. If we read Genesis 4:7-9 we can find
that before Cain killed his brother Abel, God talked to him and tried
to convey to him that his lifestyle was of sin and that was not good.
Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will you
not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door.
And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it."
Gen 4:8 Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass,
when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother
and killed him.
Gen 4:9 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?"
He said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?"
Before Cain took a decision to kill his brother, Abel he was already
in sin. That means he was already spiritually dead. Death reigned
from Adam to Moses and Cain was part of that. And this death entered
through Adam. When Adam and Eve sinned by eating the fruit of the
tree of knowledge and good, sin and death entered in this world.
Many philosophers have tried to find the meaning of mystery of evil,
but they could not. The reason is simple. They didn't look at it's
origin. Also they did not look at the source of evil. What we see
in physical is the result of spiritual things happening in and around
us.
The evil that is taking place today does that not fit the pattern
in Genesis? Cain killed Abel. Today terrorists are killing people.
Brother killing brother for property or for some material gain. People
devising evil plans and plots against others. Every thing falls in
the same pattern of Cain and Abel situation.
