From
Sherly's Desk: Celebrating 1st Birthday I am glad to tell you that we have completed one full year of Kid’s CSI Good News. When we started it, it was a great challenge to us whether we could write everything simplified so that little minds could grasp the meaning and essence of the message and at the same time whether it would be interesting or in a story form so that the kids and teens could read it and appreciate. Before writing I always wondered how I am going to write a story? While praying, God told me, that if I trust in Him, He will show me how to write stories. And this whole year God helped me to write for kids. Though sometimes it seemed as if an impossible task and though sometimes the sending of kid’s good news was delayed and sometimes we could not send it through email, sill God allowed us to continue it. The Bible says in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Yes, my little friend, when we trust in God and when we allow Him to work in our lives, He gives grace to do impossible tasks - because there is nothing impossible with Him. When we read the Bible, we find that God chose such people who had not much ability to do great things. But when they yielded to the will of God, God took them and used them so that they could shake the world. If you trust in Him, He will do the same thing for you. May be today you are going through situations when you feel as if there is no ability in you or feel that you are not good in your studies, but if you trust in Jesus, He will give you wisdom and make you a blessing for others. Story
Jesus entered and passed through Jericho - a
city in Israel. There was a man named
Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector. He was a rich man. He
heard that Jesus was
going to pass through Jericho. He had a great desire to see Jesus
was, but thought
that he could not, because of the crowd, and because he was a man of short
stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus. When Jesus
came near the
So Zacchaeus came down quickly, and received
Jesus joyfully. But the people did not
like the idea and said, "Jesus has gone to be a guest with a man who
is a sinner."
But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord,
"Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the
poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I
restore fourfold." And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house,
because he also is a
son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which
was lost."
Is Bible Infallible? 6
Let us move
to New Testament and see if this persistence continues.
Eph 2:13-16,
"But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought
near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has
made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having
abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments
contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself
one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.
Col 1:20-21,
and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on
earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His
cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked
works, yet now He has reconciled
in Eph
2:13-16 and Col 1:20,21 we see two or three interesting words like
"once far off", " brought near", "abolished
enmity" and "reconcile to God".
That is exactly what happened in Genesis-separation, alienation and
enmity. Here it is speaking about the death of Lord Jesus Christ in terms
of alienation and reconciliation as if the blood of Lord Jesus Christ is
some kind of binding factor between God and Man or transforming factor
from alienation to reconciliation.
Did Jesus
knew what His death meant, and how He is going to die? Or was it an
accident? Now if find answer to this question and if we find that Jesus
knew exactly what His death is all about, then we can know for sure that
the purpose and attachment are persistent.
John 2:19
Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three
days I will raise it up."
John 3:14 "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, Mark 8:31 And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. Mark 14:27 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: 'I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered.'
In all these
above verses Jesus is explicitly talking about His death, His very purpose
of coming to this earth. He knew exactly that He was going to be killed.
He was going to be lifted up like the serpent in the wilderness.
John
3:14-16, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have everlasting life."
The very
purpose in climbing on the tree (cross) was to bring eternal life i.e. to
revert the eternal death and to bring the human race back to the
fellowship of God. Purpose is persistent even unto the death of the
Only begotten of God. Attachment (For God so loved) is persistent even
unto the cross. Evidence is overwhelming that God created you and me and
He was even willing to die on the cross for your sake and mine.
Yes you are
precious in His sight. He created humans with special attention. With
special purpose. With special care. But Man got separated from God and He
is calling you today to come back. You may have done worst things. You may
have messed up yourself. Even if your sins are like scarlet He is
ready to receive you back. You may also be a
person who has not done much wrong but still you need Jesus. Come to Him today and He will wash you clean. He will make you a new creation. For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten son so that you do not perish. You need to only believe.
If you want
this great forgiveness pray this prayer from the bottom of your heart.
"Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner and I am alienated from you. I
believe that you died on the cross for me so that I can have eternal life.
Lord Jesus please forgive me of my sins. Wash me with your blood and make
me a new creation. Come in to my heart and live in me. You be my Lord and
my Savior. I ask in Jesus name. Amen
